This is me.
I hail from the suburbs of southeastern Wisconsin, I live in greatest city in the world, and I love telling stories.
I had my start as a member of First Stage's award-winning Young Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I developed my love for language and telling stories through song. I continued my studies at Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts in St. Louis, Missouri, receiving a BFA and—with all my time spent in the English department—a minor in English. Then, shortly after moving to New York City, I had the opportunity to train with critically acclaimed and award-winning Fiasco Theater in their inaugural conservatory program, deepening my love for and belief in ensemble and text-based work. The classics have been my passion and I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the places that do it best—American Players Theatre, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Great River Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis—but my love for language and thoughtful storytelling doesn't stop with Shakespeare. I seek to tackle modern plays and musicals with the same craft and attention to story and character.
I have been guided by my belief in building relationships that transcend transactional, striving to bring a greater conversation to the world through my work. I approach each project with an open heart and a readiness to serve the piece and the people I work with.
I currently live in Harlem with my wife and fellow actor Erin Mendez Stapleton. We are producing some exciting projects together in the coming year including a cabaret: IT TAKES TWO. Stay tuned!
The Brontës are awesome.
I am an enthusiastic member of THE BRONTË SOCIETY—one of the oldest literary societies in the world. I could talk for days about this literary family and their incredible cannon of work. I am always on the lookout for ways I can bring what I know about them and their writing to what I do as an actor and artist.
